What is Adsense and how does it work?
Adsense is a Google based service that helps companies that want to advertise find potential sites, and that's were you come in.
From the tags at the bottom of your post to your url (http://livingoffblogging.blogspot.com/) there are keywords that show up.
These keywords are read by Google Adsense and pick ads that are related to your site.
Sign up at adsense and get a feel of what they have to offer
Google Adsense.
There is a lot to Adsense on this post I'm just going to start with Adsense for content.
Adsense for content can be text or image ads that pay by either page impressions or clicks.
Page impressions are how many people have come to your site, and clicks are people that click on the ads.
How do you place these ads on your site?
When you have signed up with Adsense go to Adsense set up at the top then click on Get Ads.
Now you should see Highlighted in blue Adsense for content, click on it.
There are two options here, ad unit, and link unit.
For now we will stick with the ad unit, so make sure it's chosen and hit continue below.
Next is how your ad will look and the size. For this your just going to have to experiment around to see what you like and fits the format of your site.
After you try something go down and click continue.
Next is to name your ad this one on top I named makingaliveingofbloggingtop.
Try to name it similar to your site and where on the site so you can go to AdSense and see how its doing later.
Find add new channel and click to do this.
Hit continue.
On the next page go to submit and get code.
Now you have a HTML code for your ad, so in the gray box highlight the code right click and copy.
Go to your site and hit customize on the top blogger bar.
Click on add a gadget and then find HTML/java script.
A box should show up, right click in content and paste, then save.
Now in edit layout it should say HTML/java script at the top of your side bar, figure out where you want to place your ad and you can drag it there.
You have your first ad so now you can start putting ads on all your sites, but make sure that you read through the Terms and conditions at the bottom of Adsense so you don't ruin your relationship with Google.
Adsense for content has a limit of three ads per a site.
Your first cheek will come when you reach $100 so
Good luck and happy blogging!
